Share the Word, Share the Fun - Bring a Friend! Let’s expand our Edge and LifeTeen programs! We want our youth to bring a friend to an Edge or LifeTeen night. Maybe you have a friend whose curious about our youth ministry program, maybe there’s someone new at your school, or maybe you know someone whose been away from the church for awhile -- this is a great opportunity introduce that friend to our youth ministry program. Plus, there will be awards given to those who bring a friend. BITS AND PIECES Have You Heard? • When you sign in at Edge or LifeTeen events, you need to make sure your information is correct. Double-check the address, phone number and of course be sure we have your birthday. Otherwise, you won’t receive important mailings on events in the mail or be listed on our birthday list on the Web site or on the Youth Ministry bulletin board in the parish hall. Important Numbers
Please Follow the Rules Just a friendly reminder for LifeTeen youth. After LifeNights on Sunday nights, you are not allowed to get a ride home from another teenager WITHOUT permission. You must have your parent talk to Dee and give permission for you to ride in another car. This rule is not only to protect our teens but also our parish. Should an accident occur, and LifeTeen did not receive permission from your parent, the Youth Office, St. Ignatius and the Diocese could be in legal trouble. Please if you want a friend to drive you home, have your parent talk to Dee at the 5:30 p.m. Mass or on a cell phone. SPIRITUAL HOME AWAY FROM HOME FOR COLLEGE BOUND The office of Campus Ministry of the Diocese of Palm Beach, invites students to be part of the Catholic community on their campus. Prayer for our
Teens
Father,TAKE the lives of our teens. We offer them to You with open hands. Through the example of Jesus, teach them to surrender their lives fully to You. BLESS them with the knowledge that they are Your beloved ones and that they truly belong to a community of love and mercy. BREAK open their hearts so that the seed of the Word and the power of the Eucharist can be planted in fertile ground, take root and transform their lives. GIVE these teens to the world with the power of the Holy Spirit to witness to the love of Jesus and serve Him in each person they meet. Let this LIFETEEN ministry be bread for the world. As Christ gave You thanks and fed many, may we give You thanks for this ministry and ask You to “multiply” it and nurture its growth for Your glory. Amen |
February 12th: This Life Night, “GIFTED” will help teens understand the virtues of chastity and purity and their responsibility to practice those virtues in all relationships. This night also challenges teens to protect their sexuality and treat it as a gift from God. The night begins with dinner in the parish hall after the 5:30 Mass and is open to all teens. February 19th: Bowling at Jupiter Lanes, all teens must have a permission slip, <click> www.stignatiuspb.com. If teens need a ride they must contact the Youth Office ahead of time so we can be prepared. (Thank you) February 26th: “Theology of the Body” At this Life Night teens will hear the explanation of the Church’s teachings on maters of sexuality and help them to foster a clear understanding of the proper use and limits of sexual expression for teens. More news... *Diocesan Youth Rally / “Follow Me There” Saturday, February 18th, 2012 (9am – 7:30 pm) St. Juliana Church, West Palm Beach 8th – 12th Grade Cost: $35 (Includes Meals & T-shirt) Register with your parish ASAP! *Lifeteen Covecrest/Hiawasee Camp June 11th – 16th, 2012: A $200 deposit and paperwork is due by February 19th, 2012 to hold a space. Total Cost: $600 (Includes: Lodging, Transportation, Meals & T-shirt) *The Steubenville Florida Youth Conference (High School) June 22nd – 24th, 2012: Total Cost for the weekend includes: Meals, T-shirt, Lodging $300 Every 4th Sunday of the month is “Pot Luck Sunday!” On this night teens, core members and parents…this is your time to shine and make your favorite dish to share! Thank you and see you at Life Night! DYC – Diocesan Youth Council is a group of young men and women who represent our parish on the Diocesan level. Currently they are preparing for a High School Youth Rally in the Spring. More information will follow. Youth Service Get involved in your
parish! Any teens interested in service can contact the Youth Office at 622-2565. YOUTH MINISTRY NEEDS YOU! We are looking for parents/volunteers for our youth that would like to be chaperones for driving to various youth activities through out the year. Youth ministry would like to have a list of chaperones to call upon when and if needed. There are others aspects of Youth Ministry that can use additional help, if you think Youth Ministry is something you would like to be involved with in the upcoming school year, please contact Dee Aitken in the Youth Office at 622-2565 YOUTH MINISTRY NEEDS:

Plus, your birthday won’t appear in the newsletter.SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES There are volunteer opportunities for EDGE and Lifeteen youth at our church. Youth can always become Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, and Lectors. Volunteer to set-up the room or sort food for the SHARE Food Cooperative at St. Ignatius.
